Import wines into VinoCellar

Illustration: cellar import assistant in VinoCellar.

VinoCellar includes an import assistant to bring your inventory from other apps or a spreadsheet. Export from the third-party app first, then upload the file in VinoCellar: pick a source, follow the assistant, and map columns when using generic formats.

How do I import wines from another app?

Open Settings → Cellar import (or the Import / export screen, then the Import block). Pick a source (Viniou, Vivino, Vinara, Oeni, PLOC, CellarTracker, generic Excel, generic CSV), upload the file exported from the other tool. Dedicated CSV/XLSX formats are parsed from headers; generic Excel and CSV use a column-mapping step.

  • Viniou typical CSV export from the app.
  • Vivino CSV export from Vivino (often named vivino.csv).
  • Vinara Excel workbook (.xlsx) export.
  • Oeni cellar PDF export handled by the assistant (depends on PDF layout/version).
  • PLOC CSV cellar export (semicolon-separated).
  • CellarTracker CSV export from CellarTracker.
  • Generic Excel / CSV no proprietary template; you map each column to VinoCellar fields.

Signed in: imports can be logged in history. Guest flow: you can parse a file before signing in.

Generic Excel or CSV: how should I prepare the file?

Without a dedicated third-party app, you can import any spreadsheet whose first row has column headers and following rows are bottles.

  1. Create or export a sheet with a header row (e.g. producer, vintage, quantity, slot…).
  2. Save as .xlsx / .xls (generic Excel) or .csv (generic CSV, separator consistent with the file).
  3. In VinoCellar: Cellar import → “Generic Excel” or “Generic CSV”, then map each column to the matching field.

What if columns do not match?

The mapping step shows detected headers and sample rows. You assign which column feeds label, producer, vintage, quantity, slot, etc. Automatic suggestions help when header names are close to expected fields.

If a third party changes their export format, try a fresh export or contact support with a small anonymized sample so parsers can be adjusted.
