Vale D. Maria is a winery founded in 1998 by Cristiano van Zeller, a descendant of a long line of port wine producers. The estate is located in the Douro Valley, Portugal, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its dramatic terraced vineyards. The name 'Vale D. Maria' honors his grandmother, Dona Maria. The winery aims to produce high-quality table wines that express the unique terroir of the Douro Superior, pushing the boundaries of traditional winemaking in the region. The estate's vineyards are planted with a mix of indigenous Portuguese grape varietals.
