The Meandro do Vale Meão is a wine from Quinta do Vale Meão, a prestigious estate located in the Douro Demarcated Region of Portugal. The estate's history is deeply intertwined with the family of Francisco Javier de Olazabal, who acquired the land in the mid-19th century. It was his granddaughter, Rita Ferraz de Albuquerque, and her husband, Francisco Javier de Jesus, who ultimately established Quinta do Vale Meão and began producing high-quality wines, a legacy continued by their children and grandchildren. Quinta do Vale Meão is renowned for its commitment to excellence, with a focus on traditional winemaking methods combined with modern technology. The estate's vineyards are situated on steep, terraced slopes along the Douro River, benefiting from a unique microclimate that contributes to the complexity and character of its wines. The Meandro is a testament to this dedication, offering a refined expression of the Douro Valley's terroir. The Meandro wine itself embodies the spirit of the Douro. While the Quinta do Vale Meão estate is known for its exceptional wines, the Meandro offers a more accessible yet still remarkable representation of the region's potential. It's a wine that speaks of its origin, the dedication of the Olazabal family, and the timeless beauty of the Douro landscape.
The robust structure and dark fruit notes complement the richness of lamb and the aromatic complexity of herbs.
The wine's body and savory notes harmonize beautifully with the slow-cooked beef and rich sauce.
The wine's tannins and fruit character can stand up to the intensity and tanginess of aged goat cheese.
